John Dalton

John Dalton

John Dalton was born on September, 6 1766 and died on July, 27 1844. He was an English physicist and chemist and he was also clour blind. He is known for his research about colour blindness and the atomic theory which he created. He believed that elements were made up of atoms and that the atoms of one element were different than any other element. He thought that atoms of a certain element could combine with atoms of another element to form a compound. He was a teacher of chemistry and mathematics in 1803. He wasn't a very social person and he never married nor did he have many friends.

Neils Bohr

Neils Bohr

Neils Bohr made basic contributions to understanding quantum mechanics and atomic structure. He studied the structure of atoms and the radiation that came from them. He was a Danish physicist and he received the Nobel Prize in 1922 for his science work. Margrethe Norlund became his wife in 1912 and one of there sons followed the footsteps of his father and became a great physicist also winning the Nobel Prize. Neil created the idea of "Complimentary" which suggests that items can have several contradictory properties. He also loved soccer and played in goal.

Ernest Rutherford

Ernest Rutherford was born on August, 30 1871 in New Zealand and was commonly referred to as Lord Rutherford. He was a nuclear physicist and was known as the "father" of nuclear physics. Rutherford's main work was, he created the orbital theory of the atom. He also created the terms alpha, beta and gamma rays. One of his famous quotes was "In science there is only physics; all the rest is stamp collecting." He died October, 19 1937 in Cambridge, England.

Mendeleev

Dmitri Mendeleev

Mendeleev was a Russian chemist and was the primary creator of the first version of the Periodic Table of Elements. He studied different elements and found there origin and also predicted some of the elements that had not been found yet. He organized all of the elements on the Periodic Table of Elements by there atomic weight and similar properties. Mendeleev was born in Siberia in 1834 and died in St. Petersburg in 1907. He was one of the best teachers of his time.
